Good things in 2004

Health, Family, Work, Friends, Apartment and Telescope.

Thanks to the Lord for all that.

Ouch

Just as expected, when developers began using SVN, they realized the
problems they were gonna save by using such a tool. They were happy,
but as the change came to pass that fast, it actually impacted development
process. My supervisor now has an odd face, like if I had betried him, but
actually all what was done tries to improve our software process, making
us more happy and relaxed. The point is, I did not betray him, I just
did what had to be done one day or another. The step was necessary.
There will allways be some urgent developments to perform. Sometimes,
if the step is not taken at once, then it never gets done. This was such a
situation. I took the risk and I accept the responsibility for my actions.

SVN Rocks.

After sometime confronting developers to make them use a system to control their revisions, finally I convinced them.
Chances were to chose CVS or SVN. Among the characteristics that let us to
select SVN were : 1. Web environment is naturally configurable. You just enable web-dav and svn-apache configuration is streightforward. 2. It offers new and
desirable functionality like svn copy or svn move and enables you to make hotcopies. 3. Supports all CVS common options. 4. Subclipse exists.
Thanks to lowfill for telling me about SVN.

My contract interventor recommended me to stop installing it cause there were
some more important tasks to perform and developer learning process
could impact time lines. I thought it was really important to start by installing
a revisions system before anything else. I somehow emancipated and hopefully
SVN will show its goodies soon.

Revision mistakes were overwhelming developer's patience. They were interlocking and damaging their sources. SVN implantation was a must.

Writting about other things, My aeroplane goes just fine. Last night I could
finally build part of its tail. I think I will finish the tail this week, and then assemble it to the main fuselage, which is already finished.

My apartment goes one step forward half step back. Workers are not as disciplined as expected and some problems with the water tubes are disturbing me. It was disapointing when they were finishing the floor and then discovered that there was a problem with the tubes that caused water drops to fall through our neighbors's ceiling. Hope everything is gonna be all right, oh Lord!

Bad nights for astronomy, though.... no stars in the sky, only clouds. Gonna have to study some meteorology to have some fun with the clouds . . . .

That's all for now...

I will tell you more later.

First comment

OK, this is the begining. So, I think it is gonna take some time to tell the background. I will try to not write much on my own life, I dont like to talk much about myself.

My name is Luis Felipe. I was born in Bogota, Colombia on September 12th, 1977. I was a curious boy, a bad student, then a good student (Some say an outstanding one, but I am not sure). During my childhood I discovered electronics and computer programming were funny, so I decided to study both electronic engineering and computer science. The person who excerted the most imfluence in my personality must have been my grandpa Jesus Herran, who was a really interesting person. When he died I felt really bad and I think I have not recovered at all from this loose (Maybe I will never do it . . . ). I will try to write somethings about him later, cause he deserves it . . .
My mom and my grandma have been my support along my time, thanks to them.
I dwelt in Bogota with my cousins during the very early stage in my life in such a way that nowadays I consider them to be like my brothers. They are interesting people. I have a sister, she will be a lawyer soon. My father has been away from me. He is a good person although kind of narcissist.
My girlfriend has a pair of beautiful black deep eyes and a soft heart. We love each other.
My pet is probably pregnate and I will have tiny dogs in about two months.

Well, that's not all the story, but helps you understand me to certain degree.

Who knows the different ways life works. . . My mom says I have to organize my own life. She says:
You cant keep going to bed that late and waking up that early?! Why do you need to pernoct that way? Youre gonna get sick! . However, I think I will continue watching the stars and building my aeroplane, and as I have to work to get the money, I will continue doing that at night (moreover, It is the only way I know in which I can look at the stars in the sky - obviously, stars different to our sun).
OK, I have work to do. Let's hope this pages will reflect part of my thoughts and reveal my personal and respectuous opinions (I will not try to hurt anybody, I am sorry if I do ;) ) .
